How to Safely Package Your Knives for Warranty Service
Please take extra care when sending your knives in for warranty service or sharpening.
Even a dull knife can be dangerous.
Shipping Box
Place filler material - such as packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or newspaper - on the bottom of your shipping box. Then place the knives in the box and add another layer of filler on top of the knives.
Close and tape your box according to shipper recommendations and send it to:

WARRANTY DEPARTMENT
18600 SW Teton Avenue
Tualatin, OR 97062
Do not place loose knives in box. During shipping, loose knives can penetrate the packing box or damage each other.
Fixed Blade Knives and Kitchen Knives:
If the knife does not have a sheath, wrap it in several layers of newspaper or bubble wrap, making sure to fully cover the tip. If it does have a sheath, place it in its sheath.
If you are returning more than one knife, wrap each knife individually, then wrap them all together so that they won't roll around in the box, causing damage to the blades or handles.
Folding Knives
Folding knives should be folded closed. If you have the original box, please put the knife in the box. If not, wrap the closed knife in several layers of newspaper or bubble wrap.
Do not place loose knives in box. During shipping, loose knives can penetrate the packing box or damage each other.
Limited Lifetime Warranty
Each of these quality knives and cutlery products are guaranteed for the lifetime of the original owner to be free of defects when received from the factory. Any product we find to be defective in its original material, construction, or workmanship will be repaired or replaced with the same item or one of equal value at no charge. (Of course, normal wear, rust, abuse such as prying with the knife, or neglect are excluded from this non-transferable warranty.)
For warranty service, please return product via UPS, Fed-Ex, or US Post Office with Delivery Confirmation. There must be a way to track your package through your carrier. Kershaw Knives cannot be responsible unless we have confirmation that your package was delivered to us. When you send your knife in for service, please include ALL information required on the form. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Canadian and other international customers:
When shipping from Canada, in addition to our required Warranty Service Form, please make sure your package also includes the Customs Declaration Form required by your carrier. For example, for Canada Post, please use form CN22 or CN23. Your carrier will help you decide which to use. To avoid unnecessary duty charges, under "Quantity and detailed description of contents," on the form, write the number of knives you are sending and note the description as WARRANTY SERVICE.
This form and declaration is required per US Customs and Border Protection regulations. When shipping from anywhere else in the world, you must include our Warranty Service Form AND the appropriate Customs Declaration Form for your carrier.
We reserve the right to refuse any package or to charge you—the sender—for any duties incurred by us for wrongly declared or undeclared packages shipped to our Warranty Department.
LIABILITY DISCLAIMER The purchase, use, and ownership of knives are subject to a wide variety of local laws and regulations. Certain knife styles, blade designs, and blade lengths are not allowed in specific areas. In light of recent events involving national security, knives may not be permitted in government buildings or on government property (such as court houses, federal offices, national monuments, and airports), and government officials may take the position that knives are "weapons" under applicable laws. Due to the complexity and constantly changing nature of these laws and regulations, it is impossible for Kai USA ltd. dba Kershaw Knives to be aware of every restriction in every location in which our knives may be sold or carried. It is the responsibility of the buyer to investigate and comply with the laws and regulations that apply in his or her specific area. You, and not Kai USA ltd., dba Kershaw Knives, are solely responsible for any claims resulting from violation of these laws and/or regulations.
WARNING! Knives are extremely sharp tools and should only be used with the utmost care and caution. Any use other than cutting is considered misuse and abuse and will void your warranty.
We reserve the right to refuse any package or to charge you—the sender—for any duties incurred by us for wrongly declared or undeclared packages shipped to our Warranty Department.
FAQ's
Where do I ship my knife for warranty service?
Please see the Warranty Shipping Form Instructions and Form to send back any KAI-USA, LTD knives for warranty service: WARRANTY SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS AND FORM
Can I ship my knife in a padded envelope?
Please use a box. Padded envelopes are often ripped or torn open during the shipping process and your knife could be lost. We cannot be responsible for knives lost during shipping.
Can I have my old knife back if you choose to replace it?
We're sorry, but we cannot replace a knife and return the old one.
I shipped my knife to you for repair. Have you received it yet?
We encourage you to ship via UPS or Fed-Ex as these companies automatically provide a tracking number. The tracking number allows you to easily verify your knife's arrival at our facility. If you prefer mailing the knife to us via the post office, we suggest insuring the package and using the Delivery Confirmation service. Again, this will provide a tracking number for verification of the arrival of the knife. Please note that Kershaw will not notify you of the arrival of your knife at our facility; having a tracking number from your carrier will enable you to check with your carrier to ensure your package’s arrival.
Can I have a part sent to me?
The only parts we can send to you are screws, pocketclips, and torsion bars for USA-made knives. We cannot send blades, scales, liners, etc. If you need a blade, more than one part, or parts other than those we can ship, please send your knife in for FREE warranty service. If you want us to ship you screws, a pocketclip, or a torsion bar for your USA-made Kershaw knife, please use the Contact Us form on the bottom of this page to request parts. Remember that parts are specific to each knife model, so please make sure the model number is included in your request for parts. You can locate the four-digit model number on the blade or handle. If your knife was NOT made in the USA (check the blade), then we do not have parts in stock and you will need to send the knife in for Warranty service.
Will you sharpen my knife?
Yes. We sharpen every Kershaw knife sent in for warranty service as part of our normal procedure. (In fact, we will sharpen your Kershaw knife even if it doesn’t need warranty service. Please see below.) We provide this additional service free of charge. Please note that we can only sharpen and repair Kershaw knives.
How will I know if my knife is covered under warranty?
Please provide your phone number and the best time to call you in your letter of information. If there is any problem with your coverage, we will call you to discuss your knife. Otherwise, we will repair your knife within our usual turnaround time.
Can I send my knife back to you for routine sharpening?
Yes, we will happily sharpen any Kershaw knife for you. There is no cost for this service, aside from that of initially shipping the knife to our facility.
